Early this morning, Theophan, Catechumen at St. Paul’s Orthodox Church in Incheon, suddenly fell asleep in the Lord. He was to be baptized this Sunday, the 21st. He is a Korean War Veteran and, having lost an arm in the war, he still painted a large icon of the Baptism of Jesus. You can see that here: http://catechumen.tumblr.com/post/25848875270/we-received-a-family-of-new-catechumens-in-to-the
I will greatly miss him. Though we never really spoke to each other, we always greeted each other cordially. I know he was well respected among the older men of our Church and had a great sense of humor. People say that he was a very honest man. He was filled with joy and happiness. This evening, we commemorated him at the hospital with a traditional Korean service and an Orthodox prayer. He will receive an Orthodox funeral in the days to come.
May his memory be eternal.
